How often do I need a Class 2 Medical?

Class 2 medicals are required every 5 years (under 40 years of age), every 2 years (40-49 years), and every year

(above the age of 50).

Do I need any other tests?

Pilots require an Electrocardiogram (ECG) during their first medical after the age of 40 years old. Further ECGs are required every 2 years over the age of 50 years. Sometimes an ECG may require a Cardiologist to review it. We have established links with cardiologists across the region

An audiogram (hearing test) is only required if you intend to acquire an Instrument Rating (IR). If so, it is required during your initial issue of an IR then every 5 years (under the age of 40 years) and every 2 years (over the age of 40 years).

Pilots develop medical conditions like everyone else. The UK CAA / EASA may require some pilots to peruse an onward referral to a Consultant Specialist prior to  obtaining a Medical Certificate. This can be arranged with a Specialist of your choice or via known Consultants to us.

The Medical requirements above are subject to change from the UK CAA / EASA.
